Thank you for visiting the website of the North American Consumer Protection Investigators ("NACPI") and for reviewing our Privacy Policy. This policy addresses NACPI's standardized process for access to and for the collection, storage, use, transfer, and security of personally identifiable information that may be obtained through use of the NACPI's website.

Personally identifiable information is information about an individual that could reasonably be used to identify that individual. Examples of personal information include an individual’s first and last name, address, telephone number, and email address. NACPI fully supports the protection of individual privacy. We minimize the collection of personally identifiable information to the least amount required to complete a particular transaction. This policy extends to the collection of all personally identifiable information, regardless of the source or the medium.

1. Information we collect

We may collect the following types of information directly from you:

  • Account Services - When you register or create an account, we may collect your name, email address, address, phone number, fax number, business contact information, organization name, job title and primary role, account name and password.
  • User Content - We collect user-generated content when you submit information or feedback to our site or through services on our site. 
  • Communications - We collect the information you provide such as contact information and records of our communications.
  • Transaction and Billing Information - When you purchase a product or service from us, we collect payment information, including payment card information processed through a third-party vendor.
  • Events and Other Information - We also collect personal data related to your registration and participation in our events and conferences.
We collect this information to ensure we respond appropriately.  For example, we may need to address issues you identify, make improvements to our website, or forward your email message to another member for appropriate action.

It is our policy to collect no personally identifiable information about you unless that information is required to complete a particular transaction.  In addition, we collect no personally identifiable information about you unless you voluntarily participate in activities that ask for this information.  Choosing not to participate in these activities will not affect your ability to use any other features of our website.

 Members may edit their profile at any time to change, add, or remove personal information by logging into their member account

We may send periodic promotional and operational emails, text messages or other similar communications to you in accordance with applicable law. You may change your preferences by following the instructions provided to you in the communication. If you opt-out of receiving promotional emails from us, we may still send you communications about your account or any services you have requested or received from us. 

3. Information sharing

NACPI does not sell, rent, or trade any personal information or data from our users, members, customers, partners or exhibitors. Personal Identifying Information is maintained in association with your membership or profile account, and conference registrations. The personal information NACPI collects from you is stored in one or more databases hosted by third parties. These third parties do not use or have access to your personal information for any purpose other than cloud storage and retrieval. NACPI website uses interfaces with social media sites such as Facebook, and others. If you choose to “like” or share information from NACPI website through these social media services, you should review the Privacy Policy of that service. If you are a member of a social media site, the interfaces may allow the social media site to connect your site visit to your personal data.

4. Third-party applications

We may share your information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf. Such trusted parties may have access to personally identifiable information on a need-to-know basis and will be contractually obliged to keep your information confidential. These partners are prohibited from using your personal information for any purpose other than to provide these services to NACPI, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information. Third Party Service Providers may include, but not limited to:  WildApricot. Third Party Service providers we may utilize on nacpi.net are subject to their own privacy policies and may include reCAPTCHAMETAGoogle Maps. Please note, that we only process information that is essential for delivering our services, complying with legal obligations, or enhancing your user experience. Your privacy is paramount, and we are dedicated to handling your personal information responsibly and in accordance with all applicable laws.

5. How Long We Retain Personal Data

Your personal data will be retained until such time as needed to fulfill the purposes and uses for which it was collected as outlined in this Policy. If you request that we delete your personal data from our databases, please note we may still retain your personal data as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, regulatory requests, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

6. Disclaimer

NACPI's website contains links to other websites, including websites operated by other government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and private businesses.  When you link to another website, you leave our site, which means that this Privacy Policy will no longer apply.  When you link to another website, you are subject to the privacy policy of that website.
